n&o .biz

The Escapist, an online video game culture magazine based in Durham, is organizing a geek-fest this fall.

The Escapist Expo is aimed at fans of videogames, tabletop games, science fiction, fantasy, comics and more. Events will include "Gears of War 3," "Halo" and "Call of Duty" tournaments. A "celebrity MC" from Cary-based Epic Games and personalities from The Escapist will be on hand.

"The Escapist has always been about celebrating the best of video games and other escapist entertainment," Alexander Macris, publisher of The Escapist, said in a statement. "Now it's time to take the celebration to the streets of downtown Durham."

The convention is scheduled for September 14-16 at the Durham Convention Center and the American Tobacco Campus. The organizers, which include Capitol Broadcasting, are expecting thousands to attend.

Registration, which will start at $15 per day with a discount for multiple days, will be available soon here.
